INSEAD Knowledge (Nov 2021 - ongoing)

As Director of Research Communications at INSEAD, I oversee the team behind INSEAD Knowledge, a website that is dedicated to showcasing the latest thought leadership and research from award-winning INSEAD faculty and global contributors. As well as liaising with different departments and external partners, managing the team and editorial schedule, I also get to work with INSEAD Professor’s to develop articles and blogs based on their research findings across a range of topics. These include: leadership, organisations, economics and finance, strategy, entrepreneurship, operations management, marketing, careers, diversity and sustainability.


The Value of Biodiversity For Asia’s Megacities

Researched and compiled a special report on the value of biodiversity for Asia's megacities published by Eco-Business & Regional Project Energy Security and Climate Change Asia-Pacific of the KAS. Based on interviews with architectcs, urban planners and conservationists, the study looked to bring greater attention to the impact of the region’s urban spaces on the ongoing biodiversity crisis, while examining potential solutions that could help build a more positive future. Alternative Singapore

From the red light district to 100-year-old bell towers and underground bunkers to vintage side cars, this story written ahead of the proposed travel bubble between Singapore and Hong Kong saw me explore four tours that offer a very different perspective on the Lion City. Home Tour: Inside Lee Broom's Stylish, Monochromatic Penthouse in New York

Interviewed leading British interior designer Lee Broom to discover the inspiration behind the decor of his New York Penthouse for Tatler Homes. Broom explained how the city skyline helped guide many of the design choices, while the segmented nature of the property offered a great opportunity for him to present some of the eclectic vintage pieces he’s collected over the years. An entertaining and insightful conversation with the forthright and far-sighted venture capitalist and founder and chairman of Vickers Venture Partners, Dr. Finian Tan. An early investor in Chinese giant Baidu, Tan is now committed to funding innovative new technological developments that have the potential to transform society. While he admits that there will always be an element of risk in investing in what he calls “Holy Grail” breakthrough technologies. But as he points out, the occasional failure is acceptable when you consider the rewards of funding a new cure for cancer or discovering a clean form of energy. Read the full interview here.

Profile pieces for magazine’s centennial issue
(Robb Report Singapore - March 2021)

Wrote a series of articles as part of Robb Report Singapore’s special centennial issue. These included an interview with Professor Koh Lian Pin, respected conservationist and the head of the Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions at Singapore National University of Singapore where we discussed alternative solutions to tackling this global issue. There was a profile on the Swiss-company Bcomp whose composites – made from natural fabrics – offer game-changing, sustainable solutions in fields ranging from motorsport to space; and, there were also a look at Relativity Space which has developed a method of 3D printing rockets that could drastically reduce the time and costs involved in putting satellites into orbit.


Content series on the benefits of satellite imagery for sustainable agricultural and deforestation
(Eco-Business.com - Feb-March 2021)

Produced a series of stories for the award-winning sustainable development-focused website exploring how the integration of geospatial satellite data into a host of innovative tech-driven solutions is helping global agriculture work more sustainably and can play an important role in the fight against deforestation. The series included an introductory explainer, a more focused feature which identified specific case studies where this technology is being used in agriculture in different parts of Asia, plus a story exploring how better access to satellite imagery is proving an important first step in the bid to strengthen forest monitoring systems.


What’s on tomorrow’s menu

A feature that explores the diverse and fast evolving food biotech scene in Singapore. From fermented fungi to chicken nuggets grown in a lab, I talked to some of the leading local and international innovators and entrepreneurs and asked them what these gastronomic and technological breakthroughs might mean for the future of food.

How two tech start ups are offering hope for smallholder farmers in Indonesia and India
(Tech for Impact Asia, December 2020)

Worked on two Agtech features for Tech for Impact Asia a website designed to help governments, investors and entrepreneurs to identify, fund and implement technology solutions for development and growth in Asia and the Pacific. The first story saw me look at the crop advisory app Plantix and how it is offering Indian farmers a more efficient way to tackle pests and disease in their crops. The second story focused on the work of CROWDE, an exciting young Indonesian Fintech looking to offer the country's millions of smallholder farmers a means to break the poverty cycle.


Wild Singapore Butts Heads Against The Modern City (A Magazine, December 2020)

A story focused on the work of the ACRES: Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (Singapore) for A-Magazine. The piece saw me spend a day with their Wildlife Rescue team and see first hand how they deal with a growing number of Human v Animal conflicts in Singapore.

A CNN Travel feature that takes you on a unique trip around Geylang, one of Singapore’s most colourful but also least-visited tourist destinations, most notable for being Singapore’s only legal red light district. The tour was courtesy of the inspirational and insightful Cai Yinzhou at Geylang Adventures. Read the full story here.

Awakened in the wild (Silkwinds, August 2019)

A feature for SilkAir’s inflight magazine, Silkwinds where I visited Litchfield National Park, close to Darwin. The story saw me enjoy a different side to the popular park by camping out overnight in the bush as part of a new eco-conscious tour. Read the web version here.

A feature for SilkAir’s inflight magazine, Silkwinds highlighting a new bear sanctuary in the hills close to Luang Prabang in Laos. The story saw me investigate the work of conservation group Free the Bears and explore their efforts to protect the region’s Moon Bear population. Read an online version here.

A feature where I travelled to Sri Lanka to meet conservation groups and naturalists and learn more about their research into the elusive fishing cat, a little known breed of wild cat that have made their homes in the urban wetlands around Colombo. Read the web version here.

A story focused on the Moken people who have lived a nomadic lifestyle travelling the Andaman Sea for generations. With their nomadic lifestyle increasingly under threat, the story examined how the once-seafaring Moken people of Thailand’s Surin Islands are now hoping tourism can help safeguard their future.
